The general meeting began with the reports of BVES President Thomas Speidel and Federal Managing Director Urban Windelen. The agenda included the 2023 annual financial statement, the 2025 budget and the by-election of a cash auditor. Annual conference: focus on safety and political impetus

The BVES annual conference, which was dedicated to the safety of energy storage systems, started at 2:00 p.m. Florian Hölting and Mark Junker presented the results of a recent study by RWTH Aachen University, which once again demonstrated the high level of safety and reliability of modern energy storage technologies.

The political framework conditions for the industry were also a key topic: Andreas Jung MdB (CDU/CSU) presented his party’s energy agenda in his keynote speech and discussed the challenges and opportunities for the industry with the participants.

Workshops and expert talks: practical and forward-looking

The rest of the conference was dedicated to specialist lectures and workshops on practical topics such as standardisation, cybersecurity, explosion protection and insurance for storage technologies. Participants were given insights into the latest developments in stationary battery systems and updates on the further development of the BVES safety guidelines. Particular attention was paid to the role of insurance as a safety instrument for the industry.
