AND ITS MAR­KETS

Energy sto­rage has become a key tech­no­logy for the tran­si­tion to a secure and rene­wa­ble energy sys­tem. Sto­rage tech­no­lo­gies offer a solu­tion for the inte­gra­tion of rene­wa­ble energy from vola­tile sources. They store energy in times of excess pro­duc­tion in order to pro­vide it at a later period of time. Along­side tem­po­ral delin­king of sup­ply and demand, the inte­gra­tion of sto­rage can pur­sue other goals, from incre­asing energy effi­ci­ency to grid sta­bi­liza­tion and sec­tor cou­pling. Curr­ently, sto­rage tech­no­lo­gies can be found in various sec­tors world­wide, such as house­holds, indus­try and com­merce, and sys­tem infra­struc­ture.
