MARKETS AND TECHNOLOGIES

The Technologies and Markets department focuses on the applied use of energy storage systems in the electricity, heat and mobility sectors. It also monitors, analyzes and supports the market segments of households/buildings, industry/commerce and system infrastructure. With its technology-open approach, BVES addresses the entire technology range of energy storage systems, from super capacitors and the various battery technologies to pumped storage, hydrogen and thermal storage solutions.

From research and development of a new product, to financing and deployment, all the way to recycling - the department tackles all relevant topics along the energy storage value chain. The integration of the application industries enables the collaborative development of suitable solutions for the individual market segments and creates new markets for storage systems.

The bodies in the Technologies and Markets department provide the setting for both technology-specific and application-specific exchange within the industry.

Department B

NORMS & STANDARDS

The primary objective of the department is the development and harmonization of norms and standards in the energy storage sector as a unified and stable foundation for the entire industry. For this, BVES is an active member of the national organizations and standardization bodies of DIN, DKE and FNN. Internationally, BVES is involved in standardization work in CENELEC and IEC.

In the department, BVES experts and those of its member organizations draw up proposals on the state of the art and on the organization of installation, assembly and transport conditions, define quality criteria for ensuring product safety and labeling, and draft industry guidelines.

Department F

INTERNATIONAL COOPERATION

Foreign markets, particularly in emerging and developing countries, offer sales opportunities for energy storage technologies from German and European companies. The department supports member companies in accessing these markets by actively promoting their technologies and facilitating exchanges with relevant stakeholders to improve local market conditions. Additionally, the BVES provides companies with information and guidance to help them benefit from support programs offered by German federal ministries and the EU. These include the "Renewable Energy Export Initiative" by the Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Action (BMWK) and the "Agency for Business and Development" of the Federal Ministry for Economic Cooperation and Development (BMZ). Members can receive targeted advice on accessing international markets, funding opportunities, export security, and project financing, as well as information on supply and value chains.
