Successful workshop on battery storage for medium-sized companies as part of the DABESI project.

The hybrid workshop on “Design and Multi-Use Operation of Battery Storage Systems in Medium-Sized Companies,” organized by BVES as part of the DABESI project, took place on Friday, September 29, 2023, in Umkirch near Freiburg im Breisgau.

In the first part of the workshop, various aspects of the design and operational management of battery storage systems in a multi-use setting were discussed, with the project partners presenting the previous project results. In the second part, the participants examined relevant applications and current developments in the real-world operation of battery storage systems, as well as the current legal framework.

After these sessions, the participants had the opportunity to visit the DABESI hybrid storage system. This is a hybrid battery storage system consisting of a lithium iron phosphate storage and a vanadium redox flow storage. The BVES would like to express its sincere gratitude to all the speakers and participants for their valuable contributions and productive discussions. A special thank you goes to the company Ernst Knoll Feinmechanik for their hospitality.

About the project: DABESI, “Data-Driven Design and Operation of Decentralized Electrical Energy Storage Systems in Small and Medium-Sized Industrial Companies,” is in its final phase after two and a half project years. The project is jointly carried out with the project partners Ernst Knoll Feinmechanik GmbH, Fraunhofer ISE, Solandeo GmbH and EDF Renewables Storage Deutschland GmbH. The primary goal of the project, funded by the Federal Ministry of Economics and Climate Protection, is to economically optimise the use of storage systems in manufacturing SMEs.
